The 1950s

First Series
- A Tale of The Future

After a failed attempt to launch a rocket in New Mexico, Jet Morgan and his crew make the first trip to the Moon in the rocketship Luna. Despite all known scientific facts they soon realise that they are not alone. This series was broadcast on the BBC Light Programme between Monday 21^st September 1953 and Tuesday 19^th January 1954, lasting 18 episodes.

Second Series
- The Red Planet

After the success of the first series, where else could Jet and his crew go next but to the planet Mars? The expedition both to and across surface of the mysterious red planet is thwart with danger and spells near disaster for the space exploration fleet, commanded by Jet Morgan. This series was first broadcast between Monday 6^th September 1954 and Monday 17^th January 1955, lasting 20 episodes.

Third Series
- The World In Peril

The follow up to The Red Planet features more spacebound adventure and excitement. It was first broadcast between Monday 26^th September 1955 and Monday 6^th February 1956, again lasting 20 episodes.

First Series Remake
- Operation Luna

Operation Luna is actually a remake of the original series broadcast in 1953. It was remade in 1957 as a BBC Transcription Services for sale overseas. In fact all three serials were sold abroad as a trilogy. This version lasted 13 episodes, with the early instalments set on earth deleted, and was first broadcast between Wednesday 26^th March and Wednesday 18^th June 1958.

The 1980s

Saturday Night Theatre
- The Return From Mars

This one-off play in 1981 was broadcast by BBC Radio 4 as part of a special Science Fiction season. Charles Chilton wrote the script but with a new producer, a different cast and a running time of 90 minutes this play had a very different feel to the original trilogy.

Space Force

This series was originally conceived as a sequel to Journey Into Space. It was re-written with a new set of characters in the same mould as the original. Created by Charles Chilton, this entirely new series was broadcast on BBC Radio 2 in 1984 and lasted six episodes. This series concerns an alien presence in the Moons of Jupiter.

Space Force II

This second six part serial was broadcast late at night on Radio 2 in 1985. This series uncovers the alien influences on the Ancient Egyptian civilisation.
